In a pot or kettle, bring 6 cups of water to a boil. If not already using a pot, add 4 teabags to the pot. Allow to steep for 10 minutes.
Remove and discard the tea bags. Stir in sugar in the steeped liquid and allow to cool. Once cooled, stir in the lemon or lime juice and refrigerate. 1 1/2 cups is a serving for adults and 1/2 cup to 1 cup is a serving for children.
