Kayon Brooks Robinson, Associate Nutritionist

I am Nourish Caribbean’s Associate Nutritionist and I am based in Jamaica. My focus is supporting people in enjoying eating well with diabetes management and meal planning being key focus areas.
The Nourish Team provides nutrition services to support Caribbean people at home and abroad in living healthier lives. As a member of the Nourish Team, I provide support for a wide cross-section of nutrition-related diseases. Each person on our team has a unique journey. I have always been intrigued about how a minor change in dietary habits can stop or delay the progression of a disease. I strongly believe that almost every single disease has some link to a person’s diet and that is what sparked my interest in studying nutrition science.
Growing up, I was always underweight and didn’t know how to get my weight to be normal. I always assumed that it was because I was not eating enough food. I thought that solution was to eat lots of junk food because of the high-fat content as I did not know that weight gain could be achieved outside of eating unhealthy food. My sixth form Biology teacher was the one that opened my eyes to the nutrition world and how it can impact a person’s life. Thanks to the knowledge that I have now, I know how to gain weight the healthy way and how to achieve optimal health at different stages in the life cycle.
I am interested in making healthy eating fun and creative. I believe that every single food item has its place. I also particularly enjoy helping individuals that have limited food choices due to disease conditions or finances in finding the best way to meet their nutrition needs.
